Agree we have a shit administration
Agree leaving gold standard was a mistake in the long run but it did bring unprescedented prosperity for 40 years
But

You will NOT ever see the dollar go to zero

If it did the entire world would be in a depression so deep that not even Marshall law would be effective at controlling peace on earth. Dictatorships would rule the world and we may go back to kingdoms. We would all be serfs or slaves and beating plowshares into swords.

I am truly puzzled as to how otherwise intelligent people can have a good word to say about any politician that has ever been, just give a little thought to the scum that we have seen in our lives that supposedly represent us and point out one, honest, decent human being,it is not possible. In the following 11 months you are all going to be arguing over which reprehensible scum bag you deem more worthy to lie and shit all over you in the name of the good old USA,just a look at the insulting lineup of fucking buffoons they see fit to run for the office should tell you all you need to know about how unimportant and ineffectual the office really is.They must just piss themselves with laughter watching some asshole blather on about how Michelle Bachman is the answer,or that sleazy fuckin' criminal Newt Gingrich is the man.I hope each and every one of them get cancer and suffer a long painful death.

Don't take this the wrong way jerlouvis, I agree with what you've posted in this thread, but I'd just like to offer some friendly advice. I've come to realize you're quite opinionated, which I can be as well. But, if you want people to take you seriously in a discussion of any sort, I hope you realize that everything you say goes right out the window when you make statements like these:

"I hope each and every one of them get cancer and suffer a long painful death."

That's all. Happy New Year.

I appreciate the advice RD,but I was not trying to have a political discussion, and I could not care less what anyone here thinks about my political viewpoints, that is how I truly feel about politicians, when someone tells me Ron Paul is the best man,or Nixon was less than shady this guy,it all goes out the window for me.

Freshman Representative Scott Rigell, Virginia 2nd District. There might be one or two others currently serving who haven't been co-opted or are in some MNC's back pocket.

Oh yeah, deniro's right, you need to switch to decaf. Or stop writing one or two sentences earlier.

Or both....

My good friend Bill Monning, currently serving in the California Assembly but soon to run for state Senate, is a good, decent, honest man. Perhaps because he got in the game so late? He's got flaws (what a surprise) but he's honest and trustworthy ... and there are plenty other good people in public service (just like there are a bunch of scum). Broad strokes say more about the painter than the painting.

He's not from San Diego County is he? Somebody needs to run for Congress against that slimy multimillionaire Darrell Issa, who is trying to make the Postal Service extinct and destroy the lives and livelihood of many millions of people (and not just USPS employees, but many times as many whose careers are affected by a 1.3 trillion dollar mailing industry) instead of allowing bipartisan bills to be forwarded out of his committee that would bring solvency to an institution older than the country itself.

Don't you think that if the post office was shut down,
(and it's always been in the red, even with lots of Gov assistance)...that Fedx, UPS and other RESPONSIBLE shippers would take up the slack? Of course they would! AND hire all the people needed, from the bloated and defunct Post office.

Tho lot's of un-needed fat cat positions would be cut - boo-hoo!

What, you want ANOTHER Big Brother bailout?? - oh *whiney cunts!

(sorry for the sexist rudeness ladies - get it Jer?)

Let failed and crappy run companies go out of business, let capitalism actually work - go to hell BIG BROTHER! hee-haw!

Always in the red will lots of government assistance?

The Postal Service was profitable until PAEA (Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act) was passed in 2006. That required that the USPS forfeit 5.5 BILLION dollars a year to pre-fund retirees 75 YEARS in advance over a 10 year period. Between 2006-2010, the USPS made a profit of 20 billion, but PAEA forced us to forfeit 21 billion.

Fed Ex and UPS rank #2 and #6 respectively of the companies that the Postal Service pays to help get the mail moved each year. We are not competitors.

The USPS flies all of its Express Mail, and a substantial portion of Priority Mail on Fed Ex planes. Fed Ex and UPS drop off millions of parcels a year at post offices for the USPS to deliver. We are now delivering a full 30% of Fed Ex's overall articles.

The Postal Service does not get government handouts. We have had ZERO tax dollars put towards the operations, pay, and benefits since 1981.

In the first 2 months of FY2012 (OCT & NOV), we have made 180 million in profit. PAEA has forced us once again to forfeit all of that back.

This money isn't going into a trust fund for the purported purpose of funding the retirees. This money is being used up by the government as soon as they get it. IOU's are all that remains. This is money that our customers have paid out for goods and services.

That's demonstrably not true, otherwise you wouldn't bother to post them. You care very much what everyone here thinks, and generally speaking, you've come across like a five star asshole in this thread.

I posted what I thought was a humorous article on Richard Nixon with no commentary at all,and was surprised to find that people willing to defend him and personally address me as if I had made some comment.I then made my feelings clear on the subject. Why am I an asshole for doing what all the other people in the thread did ? When I originally posted I thought it would go unanswered, maybe someone would goof on it,I did not expect such staunch Nixon support on the GD forum.

Methinks thou dost protest too much.

My reply to your original post was in no way a personal attack on you, nor was it supportive of Richard Nixon. I quoted him for the irony that even after he has been dead for 17 years, people are still kicking him around. And even after I was attacked, I have attempted to, as they say, "take the high road".

Though I am sorry you find me to be a "whiny contemptible person", I can assure you I will lose no sleep over the situation. And to quote a member of the GD forum "family", "In any case these will be my last words directed to you."

"You will NOT ever see the dollar go to zero"

That's what they said in Rome as the currency was debased over 98% in one generation....

The dollar has lost 97% of its value since the inception of the Federal Reserve. Statistically it is already zero.

No fiat currency has ever not gone to zero and the dollar is no exception - despite the fact that it has lasted longer as a fiat medium of exchange than any other in history. It is a near miracle that it has held on for so long. It will collapse - and since 67% of the world's currencies are denominated to the dollar - so will the corresponding economies of countries foolish enough to purchase our debt backed solely by the good faith of our government.

The kiss of death was the IMF and World Bank issuing Special Drawing Rights against the dollar to mitigate the impact of dollar valuation swings as a function of the dumbass fiscal policies implemented by the Ivy League educated retards running our country's central banking system. Bernanke is a Princeton shit for brains and an Ivy League diploma isn't worth the paper it is printed on. Look at the fucking mess the so called "educated, elite leadership" has caused.

It's a race to the bottom between the US and China. Meanwhile, Brazil, Russia, India and China have already agreed in principle to a new commodity backed medium of exchange known as the BRIC - it is backed by gold and oil.

The next 20 years are going to be very interesting.....

Mando:

Once again I find that we have much more in common than love of good music. I am a strong supporter of gun control (use both hands & focus on the front site), Ron Paul (though I think he has zero chance of being elected & believe that if he ends up running as a 3rd Party independent or Libertarian this will actually benefit Obama), & extremely concerned about U.S. debt/currency situation. I haven't kept up w/ this website, but can I assume you're familiar with http://www.chrismartenson.com ?

"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship." - Alexander Tyler

”Although gold and silver are not by nature money, money is by nature gold and silver.” - Karl Marx

“Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value - zero.” - Voltaire

by the way, the RRE New Years shows were an absolute blast...

Daddy D -

I am a 3 year veteran of ChrisMartenson.com and was a very active poster for a long time. Somewhere around 2200 posts. My wife and I were very active for a long time - we organized and sponsored the Lowesville Seminar a few years ago and did the threads on Long Term Food Storage. I also helped talk Chris back from the edge with a podcast following the Fukushima Accident - non of the "worst case" scenarios he was convinced were going to happen ever did - but that's what you get when a neurotoxicologist thinks too much about nuclear energy I suppose.

Anyway, I haven't been on the site that much lately - too many sociologists peeing on each other's legs and arguing in the margins.

Then the Resource Based Economy Zeitgeist moonies showed up in force and I had to take a break.

Figuring out my CM.com screen name should be easy - my avatar is a "Dead" giveaway!!

I meant to ask about the RRE New Years shows....glad you had a good time. My son and I saw them in Philly at the Theatre of the Living Arts a few years ago and still have great father-son bonding memories from that show.

Feel free to contact me off line if you want to continue these discussions without the risk of getting jerlouvis' bowels in an uproar. mandojamr at yaw hew daught calm.
